Cradle is a Dutch-Swiss biotechnology and scientific-software company that develops an enterprise AI platform for protein engineering. Its machine-learning and generative-AI tools help scientists design and optimize proteins, including antibodies, enzymes, peptides and other biologics, by proposing candidate sequences and reducing experimental cycles. The platform is sold primarily as subscription software to pharmaceutical, biotech, industrial-biotechnology, food, agricultural and chemicals companies; Cradle also operates a wet lab in Amsterdam to validate AI-generated designs. The company reports use by six of the top 25 global pharmaceutical companies and across more than 50 R&D programs, with customers or collaborators including Novo Nordisk, Johnson & Johnson, AbbVie, Grifols, Novonesis and Bayer. It positions itself as an AI-software provider rather than a conventional drug developer: customers retain ownership of their sequences and resulting intellectual property, while Cradle charges a software subscription. Cradle reports that customer workflows can be accelerated by approximately 2–12 times, although these are company-reported performance claims rather than independently verified market benchmarks.
