Overview
Amazon Web Services has published technical guidance on building AI-powered patient profiles using AWS HealthLake and Amazon Bedrock (art. 30), and separately detailed how Amazon Connect Health brings agentic AI to the point of care (art. 24). Patient Profile Architecture
The HealthLake and Bedrock patient profile approach (art. 30) uses HealthLake as a FHIR-compliant health data repository and Bedrock as the generative AI inference layer, enabling health systems to build longitudinal patient profiles that can be queried in natural language or used to generate clinical summaries. AWS positions this as a foundational infrastructure layer on which health systems can build clinical decision support, population health, and care coordination applications.
Amazon Connect Health and Agentic AI
Amazon Connect Health (art. 24) extends AWS's contact center AI platform into clinical care coordination, enabling agentic AI workflows that can autonomously handle patient outreach, appointment management, and care gap closure across voice and digital channels. AWS describes this as bringing agentic AI "to the point of care," though the applications described are primarily administrative and care coordination rather than direct clinical decision-making.
