Key Requirements
AI chatbot operators must make reasonable efforts to detect suicidal ideation or indicators of self-harm and respond appropriately, and must disclose that the user is interacting with AI (with heightened requirements for minors). The Act also imposes youth social media protections (age verification, parental consent for algorithmic feeds, notification curfews), whistleblower protections for employees of frontier developers, directs the state to plan an AI regulatory sandbox, funds AI literacy, and creates a pilot for up to five Independent Verification Organizations to assess AI models.
